Life Members

At the 2026 Annual General Meeting, the Clubs agreed to the introduction of Life Memberships for suitable persons. These can be nominated and approved at the AGM.

At the 2026 AGM, the following two individuals were nominated and approved as the North Wales Cross Country League’s first ever Life Members are:

ROGER HARRISON-JONES, PRESTATYN RUNNING CLUB – Roger not only ran in the first ever North Wales Cross Country League race in 1958, he won it and he is still competing today at 89 years young! Roger has been a great Ambassador for North Wales having been reserve for the Welsh Team for the Empire Games in 1958 (now Commonwealth Games) competing and captaining Wales at the International Cross Country Championships on a number of occasions and subsequently as a Master winning many British, European and World medals.

GARETH HUGHES, PRESTATYN RUNNING CLUB – Gareth was the founder of Prestatyn Running Club in 1982 and ever since he has worked tirelessly putting on races during the past 44 years. Gareth has organised nearly 50 cross country races including the British Masters Championships on four occasions, the Welsh Cross Country Championship and far too many times organising the North Wales Cross Country Championships and ‘David Alun Williams’ North Wales Cross Country League fixtures.
